I have wavy hair but it is absolutely uncontrollable! Help?

Presently, my hair is an inch or two below my shoulders and is very very very very thick. I cannot stress that enough! It is wavy when I come out of the shower and has a beautiful shape. However, though it doesn't get frizzy because of my garnier sleek and shine hair serum, it gets very fat at the bottom and kind of flat at the top. I want the gorgeous LorelaiGIlmore wavy kind of hair if you know what I mean? I would like a little more volume at the top and much skinnier at the bottom. I have medium layers but nothing is working :(:(. I would LOVE some help; I'm tired of straightening my hair.

have you tried teasing it at the top for a fuller look....as for the bottom try brushing them out with a comb and then straigthening the ends if it still looks to big/pouffy.

Maybe your hairdresser could use thinning shears to just thin out the part that has too much volume.

aw i used to have that problem too. you should use mousse and a diffuser...also try and get a really good haircut. i dont know how to explain it, but the person i go to thins out my hair, like takes some weight off of the bottom. also--do not brush out your hair!!! put mousse, use a diffuser, some finishing serum, and nothing else!

i have some really curly hair and it can just be a pain sometimes too so what i do is use lots of conditiner then i use lots of aussie sprunch spray and then just turn my hair over and just keep sprunching while i dry it with a hair dryer it works really good for a cheap product and it really brings out the nautural wave or curl in your hair might not work but thats what i do so hope i was helpfull

have you considered thinning out your hair? They use thinning shears to basically cut a million layers in your hair and it makes the over all bunch thinner. They can only do it so much from the top so the top of your hair will look fuller like you want it. If your hair is thick thats why it gets flat ... because duh .. it's heavy. When someone told me that it made perfect sense ... it's physics. Another thing that can make it flat is that garnier crap ... dont you think that it's kinda heavy? I thought so when I tried it. Someone said to use John Freida ... the serum is great! I love that thing!!

I used to have the same problem. Thick hair wavy but unlike yours my hairs frizzy as well. The only way to make it better is if you grow it out a little longer and change the hair cut that you have. Dont use thinning shears when you do cut your hair. It makes it Frizzy! When you shower try not brushing your hair use big brissled combs instead. then while its wet it depends on the hair that you have i personally use VO5 moose. So when it drys its not a friz or big.

you said your hair was thick. layer it !! it turns out really nice. have those bangs on the side cuz they make you look younger. don't use the serum u use then. but definetely layer. straightening will be funner then cuz your hair will look great. plus, hair spray is cool too
