Thick Wavy Hair in need of Straightening?
Straightener - You need a wet to dry straightener (one that can be used on wet hair, I am assuming you mean the appliance, not a product) these can be pricy, I can't give you an exact price, cuz they vary all over the place, but I can recommend looking for something in the $100 range, anything cheap (ie Conair brand) will most likely not work.
I haven't heard of any products that dry hair faster, but it doesn't mean they're not out there...ask any salon hair dresser, or you can just call the salon and ask one that way.
Anti frizz = MOISTURIZED HAIR! Keep your hair moisturized so it doesn't absorb extra moisture from the air, the best way to do this long term is to use some sort of dry scalp shampoo, like Head %26amp; Shoulders dry scalp, or Pantene Pro-V winter rescue is really good too, or really any shampoo that specifies it's for curly hair (the protein structure of curly hair is different and is more prone to dryness and breakage than straight hair, it works the same for wavy hair). Then I use a conditioner meant for people with dry hair, or dyed hair, like Dove's Intense Moisturizing conditioner (something with "intense moisture" is usally good for dry hair). Also, don't shampoo every day, I wash my hair every other day, but if you must wash it every day, don't shampoo, this dries out your hair. I also leave the conditioner sitting in my hair for a good 5 minutes, to really let it work. Also use leave-in conditioner!!
For a quick fix for frizz, I use John Frieda's satin shine finishing creme (in whatever color your hair is) Just a little bit smoothed over frizzies can be amazing.
Read below for products I use, but if you want your hair to be straight in that amount of time, the only really good option is to have it permanently straightened at a salon (it's like a perm in reverse) and this can cost somewhere around $100, depending on where you go. My whole regime (again, below) takes about 20 minutes for blow drying (I use a turbo extra fast drying hair dryer, I have thick hair halfway down my back, any other blow dryer takes me like 45 minutes, so maybe you need a new blow dryer!) and then a good straightening with the iron takes about 15 minutes (so ~45 minutes total!). If you have any specific questions about what I said, feel free to email me!
Well, to get it "pin straight" in 15 minutes or less would be quite a miracle with that kind of hair (I have the same thick curly hair), but if you want to spend longer you can do this, it will definitely work, I would suggest doing it the night before, and then you can touch up with the iron in the morning before you head out:
I spray %26amp; comb through some spray on leave-in conditioner (a lot of it! any kind works in my experience, although try to get something with a lot of protein in it, though this is not the best for your skin...) then add some straightening product of some sort (I use Alterna Hemp Straightening Balm - only at beauty supply stores, but basically look for things that say "for curly hair" or reduces frizz") and brush this through. Then I spray on some heat protectant (I use Alberto V05 MIRACLE! mist, i think you can get it at the grocery store). I have really thick hair, so I blow dry in 2 sections, I put the top half up in a bun on top of my head and blow dry the bottom half, making sure to always blow down towards the ground and brushing the entire time, to avoid frizz, then I bring down the top half and blow dry that too. A good blow dryer that blows really hard and hot works best cuz then hair doesn't have time to air dry, which induces frizz. Once dry, I let it cool, and then I spray more heat protectant on it, and use a ceramic hair straightening iron to straighten it (again in 2 sections, cuz my hair is so thick). My straightener is by Hot Tools and cost $45, and it is amazing and my hair is CURLY! Then sometimes if little frizzies are sticking up I smooth some John Frieda satin shine finishing creme (at the grocery store!) thru it (just a little bit goes a long way, this stuff is awesome!) I use brilliant brunette, but use whatever your hair color is, they come in all colors. Sometimes the moisture from the creme unstraightens it a tad, so I straighten a little more with the iron, then add a quick spritz of hairspray all around.
Thick Wavy Hair in need of Straightening?
You need to get a chi straightener there kinda expensive!!!
Thick Wavy Hair in need of Straightening?
I have thick curly hair too. Besides going the salon for some sort of expensive treatment this is what I do. Wash my hair at night and blow dry it. I use citre shine laminate to help with the frizzies. I pull it back while I sleep. In the morning I use a straitening iron and go over every section of my hair. I use an iron I got at my local drug store for about $30. It takes about 45 minutes. Then with just a little touch up it will stay straight for a few days. Cover your hair with a shower cap or put it up in a towel when you shower after you've straightened it.

You could straighten it the night before... just a thought.

Go to a beauty supply store and get a good quality ceramic straightener. It will cost a lot but is worth the investment, most likely $50 or more. You most likely need something that heats up to a higher heat level than the cheap ones. I would also highly recommend an ionic blow dryer. I have thick wavy hair, and it really does help. Try to let your hair dry a little by air before you begin blow drying. You should really talk to your stylist. If they don't have any good ideas then it's time to look for someone new. You need to find someone with knowledge of your hair type, trust me, after years of looking my sister and I both have finally found stuff that works. Unfortunately everyone has different hair so you'll have to play with yours to see what works the best. Good luck!
